Join us to experience unique wildlife, tropical jungle, magical reefs and sparkling beaches, on our 8-day escorted tour to Christmas Island. This is the perfect getaway for travellers wanting to enjoy an active and exciting trip to this remote and pristine environment.

Christmas Island is a sanctuary for wildlife, especially birds and crabs as the majority of the island is made up of national park. While red crabs are the most abundant, more than 15 other crab species can be found, with diversity and abundance not matched on any other island. Huge robber crabs are also found here and are capable of opening and devouring coconuts with their strong claws. It is also the perfect location for bird watching and hiking. In fact, a good level of fitness is required to get the most from this tour. Some walking is required up steep inclines and across uneven terrain, and there will be walks of up to several kilometres on some days to get to the best sights – although the pace is set to suit the group.

This morning’s walking tour takes you into Hughs Dale Waterfall. One of the only places on the island with flowing water all year round, these rain-forested wetlands are home to mighty Tahitian chestnut trees, blue crabs and an array of rare and endemic species. The Hughs Dale track is a raised boardwalk that leads to a permanent waterfall in the rainforest, stopping for morning tea along the way. You will enjoy a picnic lunch before returning to the hotel for some rest and relaxation. Dinner will be at a local restaurant.

After breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to Dolly & Greta Beaches. Dolly is one of the prettiest and most secluded beaches on the island. Walk through the rainforest along a boardwalk for approx. 2kms, you will come to a sandy beach surrounded by overhanging coconut palms and shallow rock pools. Marine turtles nest at both Dolly & Greta beaches so you are bound to come across some on your visit. Morning tea will be provided. You will return to the township for a picnic lunch before heading back to the hotel for relaxation or whatever you decide to do. Being the last night on Christmas Island you will enjoy a farewell dinner this evening.
