China is featured in a number of Travel Directors small group escorted tours. On our Legendary Trans Siberian tours we begin in the capital, Beijing, visiting great sights such as the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall of China. In contrast the ‘China and the Three Gorges’ tour begins in Shanghai before continuing to Suzhou, Xian (where we see the famous Terracotta Warriors).

From Xian we head to Wuhan and board a cruise boat for a trip up the Yangtze river through the Three Gorges. The cruise finishes in Chongqing from where we fly to the beautiful garden city of Kunming. We then travel to the exquisite towns of Dali and Lijiang and on to Guilin and Yangshao with their fabulous limestone scenery. Our final stop is majestic Hong Kong. ‘The Silk Road’ tour features a very different itinerary. Starting in Xian where we again see the famous Terracotta Warriors, we journey to Dunhuang, Turfan, Urumqi and Kashgar, before leaving China and flying  into Uzbekistan.

We then drive to the fabled city of Samarkand, known as the ‘Rome of the Orient’, and famous for the stunning Registan Square. From here we drive across the Kyzyl Kum Desert to the great Silk Road city of Bukhara. Finally we drive to exotic Khiva and finishing in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Many regard Tashkent as the most beautiful city in Central Asia.
