Travel Directors offer escorted small-group tours to north, south and east Africa. ‘South African Magic’ is a 16-day adventure which starts and finishes in Johannesburg. From the South African capital we head first into Zimbabwe to the great Victoria Falls.

We visit the famous Hwange game park and enjoy numerous safaris to see the abundant elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes and other animals. Next stop is Chobe in Botswana where we tour the Chobe National Park. Then its on to the Okavango delta on the edge of the Kalahari desert. Then we head to beautiful Cape Town and take a cable car up Table Mountain. By contrast our ‘Mountains and Mists’ tour heads to Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia and offers the chance to see the great mountain gorilla in the wild.

In Uganda we visit the source of the Nile on Lake Victoria, see the fabled Mountains of the Moon and go on safari in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. We meet a Pygmy colony in Kabale before crossing the border into Rwanda. Here we set off on our trek to see the mountain gorillas. Then we fly to Ethiopia and attend the famous Timket Festival. We also visit the ancient cities of Gondar, Bahir Dar, Axum, Lalibela and the capital Addis Ababa. Along the way we will see medieval castles, mysterious obelisks, rock-hewn churches and the palace of the Queen of Sheba.

‘North Africa, Malta and Sicily’ begins in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, from where we explore the ancient city of Carthage.We then fly to Tripoli for a full week in Libya. We visit the great Roman ruins of Leptis Magna and Sabratha and then head south, via the ancient town of Nalut,  to the Oasis city of Ghadames. Then we drive across the Sahara desert to the stunning desert lakes of Libya. From Libya we fly to malta and tour the beautiful island before finishing the tour in Sicily where we stay in Taormina and climb the slopes of Mt Etna.
